Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly do school psychologists do?

School psychologists are uniquely trained to help children. The National Association of School Psychologists describes our role as “helping children thrive in school, at home, and in life,” (NASP, 2014). We specialize in providing direct services to students related to academic, social, behavioral, emotional, and mental health functioning.

What can you do to help me or my child?

That truly depends, and is evaluated on a case-by-case basis. School psychologists provide evaluations, ranging from testing for Gifted services to functional assessments. If you are looking for answers regarding yours or your child’s cognitive, academic, and/or behavioral functioning, I can help with that. Comprehensive evaluations are offered that include multiple testing sessions, a report with recommendations and diagnoses as appropriate, a feedback session, and collaborative services as needed. If you are curious about ADHD, autism, anxiety, giftedness, dyslexia and other learning disabilities, etc., an evaluation can be very helpful!

Do you take insurance?

Currently, the practice is in-network through Oscar Health, United Healthcare, Oxford, Cigna, and Aetna. A superbill can be provided upon request for all out-of-network companies or plans. Clients can submit that documentation to seek reimbursement.

I am currently in network with the following insurance companies. We can work together to see what is covered by your plan. I suggest this as the best first step toward partnering together. An important mission of my practice is to make services more accessible.

  • Aetna

  • Optum

  • Cigna

  • Pending

  • BCBS/Florida Blue

  • Florida Medicaid HMOs

One of the main questions I receive is: What do you offer?

The services I currently offer are related to Evaluations and Advocacy. I have experience working in schools in various capacities, and can help families navigate school systems for their neurodivergent children. It can be overwhelming and I will gladly help! I offer evaluations as well, which are comprehensive. When you use my services for an evaluation, you get testing, a thorough report, a determination regarding any potential diagnoses, recommendations, and a feedback session where we discuss results and implications. My goal is to provide helpful, accessible information that benefits my clients and their families. I also provide small group and individual counseling for children and adolescents, but am not a licensed mental health counselor or therapist.

Another important question is: What do you charge?

That depends! All services are comprehensive, and the pricing includes the entire process. Please contact the office directly to discuss rates. Gifted evaluations are $500, and psychoeducational evaluations start at $1,200. I like to emphasize that I usually spend about eight to ten hours on the evaluation process. That is what sets this service apart from other means of obtaining diagnoses.

Finally, I am always asked: How soon can you get us in?

Pretty quickly! This depends on us finding a schedule that works for everyone, but most evaluations are completed within one month from time of consultation to feedback session.
